About Law Practice Strategies

I formed Law Practice Strategies in 2008 after years of listening to attorneys stating that they want to find a better way to manage their law practices but weren’t certain where to start. Through my work with the Law Practice Management Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association, I have spoken at many educational forums and have heard a multitude of practice-related questions, of which you most certainly have heard as well:

What type of scanner should I get?

Do I really need case management software?

Can I go about this without an IT person?

Does working with multiple monitors really work?

Mac or PC?

Do I really need to .pdf my files? What exactly is .pdf anyway?

Earlier this year, I formed this company to help attorneys, one-by-one if necessary, to answer these questions on an individual basis.

I will help you “think outside the box.”

Attorneys graduate law school with an appreciation of the law.  It’s unclear to me whether any law school teaches attorneys about the appreciation of the practice.  Through Law Practice Strategies, I help lawyers approach their respective practices by taking a few steps back and determine what it is the attorney or firm is striving to do.  Do you remember when then Vice-Presidential candidate Admiral Stockdale asked “Who am I and why am I here?”  For attorneys, that’s an important question.  Let’s call this the “philosophical” stage.  I work with you to determine who you are and what you want your practice to be.  In order to fully develop this, we will discuss your goals and determine your priorities.  These goals may be professional, financial, or personal, but they must be developed and implemented in order to establish your ultimate success.

Once we have mapped out the philosophical phase, we can move on to the toys and gadgets, or “practical” stage.  This is where we discuss existing and emerging technologies, both hardware and software, as well as look at some websites which may be of use to your firm.  I guarantee that there is at least one piece of hardware or software, or a website, which will be of tremendous assistance to your firm and, within a week, will either increase your return on investment or save you an hour or more of time in the office.

Once these issues are discussed we will write up a practice plan which you will have, review, and update at your leisure.

Law Practice Strategies is a consulting company. We do not promote any specific product we discuss, nor am I reseller of those goods. While our company has professionals on staff who may be able to assist you with your professional needs, we can only give recommendations on certain products.  I work with you to provide the path you wish to go but it’s up to you to make the jump.

I have a mission as founder of Law Practice Strategies. I want to help you implement practices and procedures in your office to enhance your quality of life.  I want to help you determine what exists to assist you to continuously deliver high quality legal services to your clients, while not spending as many hours in the office, all the while increasing your return on investment, be that more net income, or more time spent outside of the office.

Allow me to assist you in making decisions for you to take back control of your practice – let’s work together to increase your revenues and make practicing law enjoyable again.
